🧪 Beta: This guide is for boarding and daycare businesses using Financial Reports with Smarter Invoice. Financial Reports are currently in beta. Contact MoeGo Support to request access.
Financial Reports organize sales, money collected, unpaid invoices, and customer balances into reports with specific purposes.
If your reports look different, familiar information may now be in a different report or column. Some previous views are no longer available in the same form.
This guide helps you find the information you used before and understand what changed.
1. Start with what changed
Financial Reports replace Standard Reports when your business is migrated. Your account cannot use both versions at the same time.
Some names, including Sales summary report and Payment summary report, stay the same, but their contents have changed. Sales reports focus on invoiced sales. Payment reports focus on money collected, refunds, and processing fees. Information that used to appear together may now require more than one report.
Appointment lists, Staff performance, Client & pet summary, and Pet incident reports are not changed by this report update. You can continue using them for those tasks.
2. Find your familiar reports and information
Sales and upcoming appointments
What you used before | Where to look in Financial Reports | What to know |
Daily sales report | Sales summary report, grouped by Checkout date – Day | This gives daily sales totals. Tips, taxes, collected amounts, and fees are not all included in that summary. |
Daily sales invoice report | Sales invoice report for invoice totals; Sales detail report for individual items | Choose invoice rows or item rows according to what you need to review. |
Sales summary with booked amounts for the rest of the month | Expected sales summary report for booked work not yet checked out | Review this separately from invoiced sales. It is not guaranteed future income. |
Sales by service, product, add-on, pet, or assigned staff | Sales detail report | Item, pet, and staff information belongs to the sale. It is not a replacement for that information on each payment. |
Sales by week or month | Sales summary report, grouped by Checkout date – Week or Month | The grouping uses checkout date. |
Payments, tips, taxes, and refunds
What you used before | Where to look in Financial Reports | What to know |
Payment totals by payment method | Payment summary report | Use transaction dates and the relevant payment methods. |
Service, product, or category amounts in Payment summary or Payment transaction | Cash basis sales report and Cash basis sales detail report | These provide category or item detail based on payment timing. |
Tips in Sales summary or Payment transaction | Tips report and Tips detail report, in the Staff tab | Choose the dates that match the activity you want to review. Business tips cannot be split into boarding and daycare using Care type; they appear under Non-service sales. For business tips on appointment invoices, see the tips guide to trace them by Booking ID. |
Tax collected during a payment period | Sales tax report, in the Finance tab | Use Payment date to review tax collected during the period. |
Taxable amounts and tax within individual payments | Sales tax detail report, in the Finance tab | Review the taxable amount and tax for each item within a payment. |
Taxes recorded on an invoice | Total taxes in Sales invoice report | This is an invoice amount in a checkout-date report. It is not a substitute for tax collected by payment date. |
Refunds and fees recorded on an invoice | Total refund and Total fees in Sales invoice report | For individual payment or refund events, use Payment transaction report instead. |
For tax collected during a payment period, use Sales tax report. For item-level taxable amounts and tax within a payment, use Sales tax detail report. For tax recorded on an invoice, use Sales invoice report > Total taxes.
Unpaid invoices, deposits, store credit, and packages
What you used before | Where to look in Financial Reports | What to know |
The Unpaid + Finished filters in Sales invoice | Open invoice report | Review unpaid invoice balances as of a selected date. It is not a list of every appointment without payment. |
Deposit audit log | Deposit activity report | Review deposits and prepayments collected, applied, refunded, or forfeited. |
Store credit audit log | Store credit activity report | Review changes to store credit. Activity during a period is different from the balance remaining. |
Package redeem report | Package redemption report | Review package use. Use Package balance report to review remaining quantities and amounts. |

3. Understand why a total looks different
A matching report name does not always mean the same records are included.
Compare | Standard Reports | Financial Reports |
Sales summary date | Sale date | Checkout date |
Sales summary scope | Could include booked appointments that had not yet been invoiced | Focuses on invoiced sales |
Sales summary contents | Combined sales with additional payment and invoice information | Shows gross sales, discounts, net sales, and item count |
Daily sales | A separate checkout-date report | Daily grouping within Sales summary |
The date change does not apply to every old report: Daily sales already used checkout date.
For example, a client pays toward a boarding stay on November 1 and checks out on November 5. The payment is reviewed by its transaction date; the invoiced sale is reviewed by checkout date. A report for November 1 can therefore show a payment without the same amount appearing in checkout-date sales.
Before comparing totals, check the same location, date range, date basis, filters, and included amounts. Check the report's update information as well. A difference may be explained by these settings, but it should still be investigated if it does not match the underlying records.
📝 Note: Checkout, invoice creation, and payment are separate steps. An appointment checked out without an invoice is different from an invoice that exists but remains unpaid.
4. Rebuild your usual reporting view
Choose the report for your task: Use the tables above or the report picker.
Set the location and dates: Check whether the report uses checkout date, transaction date, appointment dates, or an as-of date.
Apply the available filters and grouping: For example, group Sales summary by checkout day, or Payment summary by payment method.
Review Revenue Categories: If you see Category not assigned, review your item assignments.
Open details separately: Use Sales invoice or Sales detail for sales, Payment transaction for payments, and Cash basis sales detail for categorized collections. Reapply the relevant dates and filters in the detail report.
Clicking a Sales summary or Payment summary row no longer opens its detail report automatically.
5. Use the additional financial views
Review collected amounts by your own categories: Cash basis sales uses Revenue Categories to organize payment-related information.
Review what was owed at a selected date: Open invoice supports reviewing outstanding invoice balances for a month-end or another available date.
Review customer value separately: Deposit activity, store credit activity, and package reports explain different kinds of customer activity. Package balance shows remaining package quantities and amounts.
📝 Note: Use Unapplied deposit report to review deposit balances as of a selected date.
6. Get help with a missing report or blocked workflow
Some previous views do not have an exact replacement. These include a single payment-level table combining categories, tips, taxes, assigned staff, and pet names, and sales grouped by city, ZIP code, or van.
If you cannot complete your usual reporting task, contact MoeGo Support. Include:
The report or column you used before and what you need it for.
The report you are using now, location, date range, and filters.
A specific invoice or payment example, where relevant.
Support can help review the available options, including discussing a return to Standard Reports if the change is disrupting your workflow.
