Use this FAQ to investigate differences in Financial Reports.
For before-and-after report mapping, open the transition guide.
Q: Can I use Standard Reports and Financial Reports at the same time?
A: No. Financial Reports replace Standard Reports when your account is migrated. If the change prevents you from completing a regular workflow, contact MoeGo Support to discuss the available options.
Q: Why do two reports show different totals?
A: Check what the reports measure before comparing them.
Report | Main question | Date basis |
Sales summary report | What did we sell? | Checkout date |
Payment summary report | What payments and refunds occurred? | Transaction date |
Cash basis sales report | What money did we receive by category? | Payment or transaction date |
Open invoice report | What was still unpaid? | Selected as-of date |
Also match the business locations and filters. A different total does not automatically mean there is an error.
Q: Why does Sales summary differ from Payment summary or Cash basis sales?
A: A pet parent can pay before or after an invoice is checked out. The payment and sale may therefore appear in different periods. Use sales reports for checkout-date sales, payment reports for money movements, and cash basis sales reports for received amounts by category.
Q: Why is a recent payment, invoice, or refund missing?
A: Check the source record and the report settings:
Open the invoice or payment record and check that the expected activity is recorded.
Check the report's date basis, date range, business, and filters.
Refresh the report and review it again.
Contact MoeGo Support if the record is still missing. Include the report name, date range, and an example invoice or payment.
Q: Where are the tips, taxes, and refunds that used to appear in Sales summary?
A: Use Tips report for tips, Sales tax report for tax collected by payment date, and Sales tax detail report for taxable amounts and tax per item within a payment. Use Sales invoice report for invoice-level tax, refund, and fee totals. These reports use different dates and levels of detail, so choose the one that matches the question you are reviewing.
Q: Why can't I click a summary row to open the details?
A: Sales summary and Payment summary no longer open their detail reports when you click a row. Open Sales invoice report, Sales detail report, or Payment transaction report separately, then select the relevant dates and filters.
Q: What does Category not assigned mean?
A: An item has not been assigned to a Revenue Category. Review the item in Accounting settings and follow the Revenue Categories setup guide.
Q: Why doesn't Cash basis sales match my bank payout?
A: Cash basis sales is not a payout reconciliation report. Payout timing, processing fees, refunds, and adjustments can affect the amount deposited into your bank account. Use your payment processor's payout details and bank records for that comparison.
Q: Why does an invoice still look unpaid after a payment or refund?
A: Check the report's as-of date, then review the invoice's payment and refund history before following up with the customer. Contact MoeGo Support if the reported balance does not match those records. See the Open invoice guide.
Q: Does store credit activity show the remaining balance?
A: Store credit activity shows changes during a period. Do not treat that activity total as the customer's remaining balance. See store credit reports for what each view shows.
Q: Can Financial Reports replace or automatically sync my accounting software?
A: Financial Reports help you review and export information for bookkeeping. They do not replace accounting software or sync data to it by themselves.
Q: What if I cannot find the report or information I need?
A: Use the report picker first. If the report is unavailable or does not provide the information your workflow needs, contact MoeGo Support. Include the previous report or column name and what you need to accomplish.
