Facility-Wide Pet Limit lets a business set the maximum number of pets that can be onsite at one location at the same time across supported care types.

Pet care businesses often have more rooms or appointment openings than they can safely support as a whole. Staffing, shared play areas, cleaning workflows, feeding responsibilities, insurance requirements, or building-safety rules may create a lower limit. Facility-Wide Pet Limit gives the location one shared guardrail across those operations.

When to use a facility-wide pet limit

Use a facility-wide limit when the maximum number of pets your team can safely care for is lower than the total number of available rooms, kennels, or service appointments.

For example, a facility may have 60 kennels but only enough staff and shared space to care for 50 pets at once. The business can set its facility-wide pet limit to 50 without changing its individual lodging setup.

How It Works

Facility-Wide Pet Limit applies one maximum to the location. MoeGo checks the number of pets that would be onsite during the proposed date and time.

Where the booking happens

What happens at the limit

Business Web

Staff see an over-capacity warning with the affected date or time. The facility warning does not prevent staff from continuing.

Online Booking

Unavailable dates or times are filtered or disabled. For supported Boarding and Daycare flows, clients may join the waitlist when the business has enabled it.

This difference allows staff to make a deliberate operational exception while preventing clients from selecting availability that the facility cannot normally support.

How pets are counted

The limit represents physical pets onsite, not the number of appointments or services.

  • One pet with overlapping services counts once.

  • Different pets in the same family count separately.

  • Boarding, Daycare, Grooming, Evaluation, and other supported onsite care types share the same location limit.

For example, Bailey is boarding overnight and receives a grooming service during the stay. Bailey still counts as one pet because only one physical pet is onsite.

Facility capacity and lodging capacity are different

Capacity type

What it controls

Example

Facility-Wide Pet Limit

The total number of unique pets onsite across supported care types

The building can safely support 50 pets, even if more rooms are available.

Lodging capacity

The availability of particular rooms, kennels, or lodging areas

A deluxe suite may be full while standard kennels remain available.

An available kennel does not always mean the facility can safely accept another pet. The business should consider both limits when deciding whether to take a booking.

Example: a busy holiday afternoon

A resort has 48 boarding pets and two daycare pets onsite. Its facility-wide pet limit is 50.

  • A staff member adding another Grooming appointment sees that the booking would bring the location to 51 of 50 pets. MoeGo shows a warning, and the staff member can decide whether to continue.

  • A client booking online does not see a date or time that would take the location past its normal limit. If waitlist is available for the selected Boarding or Daycare flow, the client can join it instead.

The result is one shared safety boundary, even though the pets are receiving different types of care.

What happens when the limit changes

Turning on Facility-Wide Pet Limit or lowering the number does not cancel, move, or remove existing appointments or lodging assignments.

Staff may see warnings when they create or change appointments that exceed the new limit. Online Booking availability also reflects the location limit when clients select supported dates and times.
