Why Is My MoeGo Pay Application Still Pending?

What a pending status actually means, the three things that usually cause it, and which ones you can fix yourself.

Written by Marina

A pending application is usually not a queue. Clean applications clear almost immediately — so if yours is still open, something specific is happening, and in most cases it's something you can act on.

This article covers how to check where yours stands and what each cause means.

Check your status first

On desktop: go to Payment → Card processing

In the app: go to Settings → MoeGo Pay

You're approved and can take payments

📝 While you're pending, you can't accept card payments inside MoeGo. That includes invoice links, card on file, and checkout. This is why it's worth resolving quickly rather than waiting it out.

The three things it usually is

What's happening

How long

What you do

A document is being reviewed by a person

About a day

Nothing — this one just needs time

Something didn't match, most often your EIN or legal business name

Minutes, once corrected

Re-enter it to match your IRS document exactly

Your EIN was issued recently and hasn't reached the IRS database

Three to four weeks

Upload your IRS letter

A document is under review

Some documents get looked at by a person rather than checked automatically. This typically takes about a day.

There's nothing to do here and nothing has gone wrong. Re-submitting won't speed it up — it usually restarts the review.

Something didn't match

This is the most common cause, and it's almost always the legal business name or the EIN.

Your legal business name has to match your IRS documents exactly — capitalization, punctuation, and any suffix like LLC or MBR. Type it exactly as it reads on one line of your IRS letter.

To fix it: open your IRS letter, compare it character by character against what you entered, and correct it. Once it matches, this clears in minutes.

Full detail on what each field expects is in [Complete Your MoeGo Pay Verification].

Your EIN is brand new

If your EIN was issued recently, it can take three to four weeks to appear in the IRS database. Until it does, there's nothing to check your details against, so verification can't complete.

This is on the IRS side. It isn't an error, and nobody at MoeGo can accelerate it — but you don't have to just wait it out either. Upload your IRS letter and your application can proceed.

If none of these apply

If your application has been open longer than expected and none of the above seems to fit, contact support. We can look at what's actually holding it up and tell you specifically what's needed.

Worth having ready when you reach out:

  • Your legal business name as you entered it

  • Which IRS document you uploaded

  • Roughly when you submitted
