How to create an ad campaign

Walk through the campaign builder to launch a Google ad on MoeGo, from writing the ad to setting your daily budget.

Written by Marina

🌱 MoeGo Ads is launching soon. If you're interested in being one of the first to try it, contact your account manager or MoeGo support to get on the early access list.

Ad campaigns are how MoeGo Ads gets your business in front of new local customers on Google. Each campaign targets people in your service area who are searching for the kind of services you offer.

This article walks you through creating a campaign from start to finish. The whole process takes about 5 minutes. You can create as many campaigns as you'd like β€” there's no limit.

If you haven't set up MoeGo Ads yet, start with [Set up MoeGo Ads] firstπŸ‘ˆ

Before you start

πŸ“ Note: You'll need the Access ads permission to create a campaign. If you're a Manager or Staff member without this permission, ask your account Owner to grant it in your Roles settings.

Make sure these are already in place:

  • An active MoeGo Ads subscription

  • Your Google Business Profile is connected

  • A payment method is added for ad spend

You'll also want to have ready:

  • Your business logo (required)

  • A few photos of your business or services (used in your ads)

  • Your business phone number for call tracking

How to create a campaign

In the Ads section, open Advertising and click Create Campaign.

MoeGo Ads currently only support ads platform as Google.

The campaign builder walks you through multiple steps, and you'll review your ad credit and checkout at the end. You can move back and forth between steps before launching β€” nothing is charged until you complete checkout.

Step 1: Write your ad content

This is what your ad will say when it appears on Google.

Describe your business in one sentence: Enter a short description of what your business does and what makes it stand out.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Specific details work better than generic ones. "A family-owned mobile grooming business serving small to medium-sized dogs across north Austin" will generate stronger ad copy than "A pet grooming business."

Step 2: Confirm Campaign Details

This step sets up the basic identity and goal of your ad.

  1. Upload your logo: This is your business logo as it will appear in your ad. The logo must be uploaded for the campaign to continue.

  2. Choose your Ad Click Action: This is what happens when someone clicks your ad. Choose one of two options:

    • Track store visits, directions, and calls β€” Customers who click your ad open your Google Business Profile, where they can call you or get directions to your shop. Best for storefronts like grooming salons or boarding facilities.

    • Track bookings and lead submissions β€” Customers who click your ad are taken to a custom webpage (like your online booking page) where they can book directly. Best for businesses focused on driving online appointments.

  3. Click Next to continue.

Step 3: Review Campaign Content

This step is where you write the headlines and descriptions that appear in your ad on Google.

When you first arrive on this step, MoeGo will have pre-filled headlines and descriptions based on your business. To customize them:

  1. Review the pre-filled content: You'll see several headline options and descriptions, each with a character count. The Ad Preview on the right shows how your ad will look on Google Maps, Search, and other placements.

  2. Click Regenerate Ad Content if you'd like a fresh version. This opens a window where you can:

    • Describe your business or key services in your own words

    • Select a tone for the ad copy β€” Friendly, Playful, Persuasive, or Elegant

  3. Click Generate to create new headlines and descriptions based on what you entered.

  4. Click Next when you're happy with the ad copy.

Step 4: Set Up Themes

Themes guide your campaign toward the right audience. They tell Google what kind of services you offer and what kind of customer you're trying to reach.

  1. Review the suggested Related Themes: MoeGo automatically generates themes based on your business. You need to select at least 3 related themes for the campaign to launch.

  2. Adjust your selection: Tap any theme to add or remove it. Themes should be specific and aligned with what customers actually search for.

  3. Click Regenerate Themes if you'd like a different set of suggestions.

  4. Review Competitor Themes below to see how your campaign positions against similar businesses in your area.

  5. Click Next when at least 3 related themes are selected.

Step 5: Upload image and adjust

This step is where you add photos of your business for the visual side of your ad.

  1. Upload your photos: Choose photos that represent your business well β€” clean storefront shots, before-and-after grooming photos, your team at work, happy customers. High-quality, well-lit images perform best.

  2. Add as many as you'd like: You can upload multiple photos. Google will rotate them in your ads automatically.

  3. Click Next when you've added the images you want.

After uploading, you can crop and adjust each image so it fits ad formats properly.

Step 6: Configure Audience

Your campaign will only show your ad to people inside the area you define here. You can target by zip code or by a radius around your location.

Option A: Target by Zip Code

Best if you know the specific zip codes where your customers come from.

  1. Select Zip Code as your targeting method.

  2. Enter one or more zip codes where you want your ad to reach.

Option B: Target by Radius

Best if your customers come from a general area around your business β€” most grooming and boarding businesses use this option.

  1. Select Radius around location as your targeting method.

  2. Enter your business address. The system will fill in your city, state, and country automatically.

  3. Set your radius in miles using the + and βˆ’ buttons. The default is 5 miles. You can go anywhere from 2 to 100 miles.

  4. Review the map. The red highlighted area shows the geographic area your ad will reach. Adjust the radius if it doesn't match where your customers actually come from.

  5. Click Save and Continue when the targeting looks right.

πŸ’‘ Tip for mobile groomers: Set the radius to match your actual service zone, not the default 5 miles. Mobile businesses often serve 20–40 mile radii.

Step 7: Decide Call Tracking

When your campaign is live, MoeGo can route calls from your ad through a tracking number to give you analytics about each call β€” duration, location, sentiment, and keywords mentioned.

  1. Decide whether to enable Call Insights: The Enable Call Insights toggle is on by default.

    • On: Calls from your ad are routed through a tracking phone number that forwards to your real business phone. You'll see analytics for every call.

    • Off: Your real phone number is shown on Google directly. You won't see call analytics.

  2. Enter your business phone number: This is the real number where customers will reach you β€” the number calls forward to when Call Insights is on.

  3. Click Save and Continue.

πŸ“ Note: If Call Insights is on, calls to your business will be routed through our advertising partner's tracking number for analytics. There's no delay in how calls reach you β€” they forward instantly.

Step 8: Select Ad Spend

Set your daily budget for the campaign.

There are three tiers:

Tier

Daily budget

Monthly cost

Small

$7/day

~$210/month

Medium (recommended)

$10/day

~$300/month

Large

$15/day

~$450/month

  1. Select a tier: Medium is the default and works well for most businesses.

  2. Click Save and Continue.

Review your Ad Credit Balance

After completing the 8 setup steps, you'll see a page that summarizes your Ad Credit Balance before checkout.

  • Ad Credit Balance: Includes your $300 promotional credit from your first-month offer. Ad credits cover ad spend only β€” not your $99 subscription.

  • Automatic top-up: If enabled, your ad credits automatically refill when they get low, so your campaigns don't pause. You can set the amount that's added each time.

πŸ“ Note: Automatic top-up is strongly recommended. Without it, your campaigns will pause when your credit reaches $0, and you'll need to manually add credits to resume.

  1. Review your credit balance and top-up settings.

  2. Check the box confirming you understand how your Ad Credit Balance works.

  3. Click Continue to Checkout.

Checkout

The final step is checkout. This is where your payment method is confirmed and your campaign launches.

  1. Review your Ad Budget: Your selected daily budget and estimated monthly cost.

  2. Review your Ad Credit Balance: Your current promotional credit ($300 for new subscribers).

  3. Enter your card details: Card number, expiration date, and security code. This is the payment method that will be charged for ad spend after your promotional credit is used up.

  4. Confirm your country.

  5. Click Launch Campaign.

Your campaign goes live shortly after launch. Google needs a short window to review and approve the ad.

πŸ“ Note: Because your first month includes $300 in promotional ad credit, most new subscribers will see "$0 due today" on the checkout page. Your card is saved for future ad spend, which only begins once the credit is used up.

What happens next

  • Your campaign goes live within about 30 minutes. Google needs a short window to review and approve the ad.

  • First leads typically arrive in 7–14 days. The AI takes about 30 days to fully optimize your bids and budget allocation, so performance ramps up over the first month.

  • Check your Campaign Details anytime to see clicks, impressions, calls, store visits, and conversions. Performance updates throughout the day.

  • You can pause your campaign anytime without cancelling your MoeGo Ads subscription. Pausing stops ad spend but keeps your settings saved so you can resume later.
