Setting Up Service Charge & Custom Fees

MoeGo allows you to add additional fees—such as travel fees, cleaning fees, late pick-up fees, or early drop-off fees—to appointments beyond the base service price.

Depending on your business type, this feature appears in different locations:

  • Grooming-only businesses → called Service Charges

  • Boarding & Daycare businesses → called Custom Fee (under Pricing Rules)

1. How to Set Up Service Charges / Custom Fees

Step 1: Navigate to the Setting

For Grooming-only businesses:
Go to Settings > Services > Service Charges

For Boarding & Daycare businesses:
Go to Settings > Services > Pricing Rule > Custom Fee.

Step 2: Create a New Fee

Click:

  • Add New Service Charge (Grooming), or

  • Add New Rule (Boarding/Daycare)

Then configure the following:

Basic Information

  • Name – What the fee will appear as on invoices (e.g., Travel Fee, Cleaning Fee)

  • Description – Optional details explaining the fee

Status

  • Turn on Active to make the fee available.

  • Only active fees can be added to invoices.

  • Turn off Active if the fee is no longer in use.

Application Type

Choose how the fee should apply:

  • Each Appointment
    Applied once per appointment.
    Example: Mobile travel fee.

  • Each Pet
    Applied based on the number of pets in the appointment.
    Example: Late pick-up fee per pet.

Pricing & Tax

  • Set the price

  • Configure applicable tax

  • If you manage multiple businesses, you can use Add Override by Business to set different pricing per location. (you can also apply this fee for specific business, or all business)

Auto-Apply Settings

You can decide whether the fee applies automatically at checkout.

Option 1: No Auto-Apply

The fee must be added manually during checkout.

Option 2: Auto-Apply During Checkout

The fee is automatically added when the appointment is checked out.

Option 3: Additional Options (Boarding & Daycare Only)

You can auto-apply fees based on:

  • Applicable Care type (Boarding, Daycare, Grooming)

Note: Grooming-only businesses will not see service-type conditions.


2. Applying Service Charges at Checkout

Service charges are applied per appointment, and each fee can only be added once per appointment.

Automatically Adding Fees

If Auto-Apply During Checkout is enabled, the fee will automatically be added when checking out the appointment.

Manually Adding Fees

If auto-apply is turned off:

  1. During checkout, click Add Service Charges (Add Fees)

  2. Select the fee from drop down list, and add it to the invoice


3. Reviewing Service Charges in Reports

You can track service charge performance in multiple reports.

Overall Service Charge Revenue

Go to: Insight > Dashboard

Service charges is displayed under Revenue by category

Service Charges by Sales Invoice

Go to: Insights > Reports > Sales > Sales Invoice Report

You can review service charge, service charge gross sales, and service charge net sales for each invoice.


Frequently Asked Questions

If I enable Auto-Apply, will service charges be included in online booking prepayments?

  • Yes.

  • If online booking with prepayment is enabled, service charges will automatically be included when the client submits and pays for their booking request.

Are service charges included in staff commission calculations?

  • No.

  • Service charges are not included in staff commission calculations.

Do discounts apply to service charges?

  • Yes.

  • Service charges are included when applying discounts to the appointment total.
