How to Split a Pet's Lodging Assignment

During peak seasons β€” or when a specific room becomes unavailable partway through a stay β€” you may need to move a boarding pet to a different room before their check-out date. Split lodging lets you assign a pet to multiple rooms across a single boarding stay, without canceling or recreating the appointment.

How It Works

A boarding appointment can be split across multiple rooms, one per day of the stay. A 5-night stay can have up to 5 different room assignments β€” one room per night.

Each segment has:

  • Its own room assignment

  • Its own end date and time (the moment the pet transfers to the next room)

  • An optional custom price if the assigned room type is not normally eligible for the service booked

The pet's total stay duration and all other appointment details remain unchanged.

πŸ“ Note: Split lodging is available for boarding appointments only. Daycare appointments cannot be split across multiple rooms.

Split a pet's lodging assignment

Before you start: the boarding appointment must already exist. Split lodging is added by editing an existing appointment, not during the initial booking flow.

  1. Open the appointment details for the boarding appointment you want to update.

  2. Click Edit Service.

  3. Click Add Another Lodging. A new room assignment row appears below the current one.

  4. Select a room for the new segment from the lodging selector. Rooms that are unavailable or at capacity will be filtered out unless you turn off Only show applicable lodging.

  5. Set the End Date for the new segment. This is the date the pet transfers out of that room and into the next one.

  6. Set the end time if needed. You can split assignments down to the exact hour and minute.

  7. Repeat steps 3–6 to add more room segments if needed.

  8. Click Save.

πŸ“ Note: The last segment's end date always matches the appointment's overall check-out date and cannot be set independently.

⚠️ Important: You cannot assign more than one room per day. The maximum number of segments equals the total number of boarding days in the stay.

Set a custom price for a segment

If the assigned room belongs to a lodging type that is not eligible for the service booked β€” for example, placing a small dog in a large-dog suite β€” you can enter a custom price for that segment.

  1. After adding the segment, enter a custom price in the price field for that row.

  2. Click Save. The invoice will reflect the adjusted amount when the appointment is checked out.
