How to use the report library

This article covers how to navigate the report library and use the shared controls that work the same way across every report.

The Reports section in MoeGo Insights contains a library of pre-built reports organized by category β€” Finance, Sales, Appointments, Staff, and Clients Insight. Each report is designed for a specific purpose and shares a common set of controls.

Once you understand these, you can use any report in Insights without re-learning the interface.

In this video, you'll get a quick tour of the Reports section and learn how to use Group By, Custom Displayed Columns, and Filters to view insights tailored to your needs.

Navigate To Report List

πŸ–₯️ Desktop:

  1. Go to Report > Insights from the main navigation.

  2. Click Reports in the top navigation bar.

  3. Browse the category tabs β€” Finance, Sales, Appointments, Employee, Clients Insight, Payroll β€” to find the report you need.

  4. Click a report name to open it.

  • In the app, navigate to "Insights" from the left-hand menu.

  • Tap "New Insights" in the top-right corner to switch to the new report dashboard.

  • Tap "Report" from the top menu to select and view detailed data within each report.


​Understand what you're looking at

Every report has a header that tells you two important things before you read any data:

  • Report name + date basis label (e.g., "Based on transaction date", "Based on appointment date")

    • This tells you which date field the report is built on.

    • Two reports for the same period can show different totals if they use different date fields.

  • Last updated timestamp

    • Data syncs hourly, not in real time.

    • Check this timestamp before drawing conclusions from your numbers.


Set your date range and filters

Date range and business selector

Every report has a date range picker and a business selector at the top. These work the same way as on the dashboard β€” see How to use MoeGo Insights πŸ‘ˆ for details.

Customized Columns

Click the βš™οΈ gear icon next to the Group By dropdown to select which columns appear in the table.

  • Toggle columns on or off to show only the metrics that matter to you.

  • Drag and drop to reorder columns.

  • Only the columns currently displayed will be included when you download the report.

Smart Filters

Click All Filters to open the filter panel. You can narrow the data by staff, care type, service, payment status, appointment status, and more. The available filters vary by report.

  • Active filters show a count badge on the All Filters button.

  • To reset, click Clear inside the filter panel.

  • Filters apply immediately β€” there is no Apply button.

πŸ’Ž Ultimate only: All plan users have access to basic filter; Advanced numeric filters (e.g., filter by Total Unpaid > $1) are available on the Ultimate plan.

Group By

The Group By dropdown changes the row dimension of a summary report β€” you see the same metrics, reorganized by a different dimension.

Group By is only available on summary reports, not on row-level list reports (such as Sales Invoice or Appointment List).

The available grouping options vary by report. Common grouping dimensions include:

Grouping Dimension

Description

Appointment/Sales Date

Group by day, week, month, or year based on the appointment date.

Transaction Date

Group by day, week, month, or year based on the payment date.

Payment Method

Filter by selected method at checkout.

Transaction Type

Sale or refund.

Business Name

Location of the transaction.

Processed By

Staff member who processed the checkout.

Assigned Staff

Staff member who provided the service.

Created By

Staff who created the appointment.

Create Date

Original creation date of the appointment.

Source

Booking source: online or by staff.

Category

Service, add-on, service charge, package, or product.

Care Type

Classifies service type: Grooming, Boarding, Daycare, or non-service sales

Service/Product/Add-on

Specific items linked to the appointment or sale.

Appointment/Payment Status

Current status of the record.

Van

Indicates the sale by van, applicable to mobile businesses.

Location Info

State, city, or ZIP code.

Pet Info

Breed, type, or pet code.

Client Name

Associated client.

Business ID

Unique identifier for each business location

Evaluation

Lists evaluation appointments only, applicable to Boarding & Daycare.

Drill down from summary to detail

On summary reports (Sales Summary, Payment Summary, Appointment Summary), you can click any row to drill down into the underlying line-item data.

On row-level reports (Sales Invoice, Payment Transaction, Appointment List), click the Invoice ID or Booking ID to open the full invoice or appointment details.

Download Reports

Click the Download button in the top-right corner of any report to export the current view as a CSV or Excel file.

  • The download reflects your current filters, grouping, and date range.

  • Only the columns currently displayed in the table are included in the export.

Compare to a prior period

Use the Compare to dropdown to add a comparison period. Every metric in the report will show a percentage change badge next to the current value.

Options: Prior period, Previous year, Custom period.
