Set a Checkout Cut-off Time

MoeGo now allows you to set a checkout cut-off time for Boarding Capacity so late check-outs are counted correctly toward your overnight boarding capacity.

Managing boarding capacity accurately is essential for smooth daily operations.

Setting up a checkout cut-off time helps prevent overbooking and ensures your availability reflects real operational usage.

How It Works

Usually, boarding capacity was calculated based on overnight occupancy. But under the circumstances, lodging units with very late check-outs could still appear available for same-day boarding, even when they were realistically not.

With the Checkout Cut-off Time setting, you can define when a boarding check-out should count toward that night’s capacity.

  • Boarding appointments that check out at or after the cut-off time
Count toward that night’s boarding capacity

  • Boarding appointments that check out before the cut-off time
Do not count toward that night’s capacity

This ensures availability is calculated more accurately for same-day bookings.

This works toward both the real check-out time and the scheduled end time.

How to Set It Up

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Lodgings & Playgroups

  3. Click Manage checkout cut-off time

  4. Enable the setting

  5. Configure your desired cut-off time

Example

If your checkout cut-off time is set to 2:00 PM:

  • Pets checking out at or after 2:00 PM will count toward that day’s boarding capacity

  • The lodging unit will not be available for additional same-day boarding

Important Notes

⚠️ Applies to boarding services only
⚠️ This is a company-level setting and cannot be customized per location or per lodging
⚠️ The setting applies to both manual bookings and client online bookings

Lodging View

You may notice cases where a lodging unit looks available in the Lodging View, but when you try to create a new booking, the system shows that the lodging is not available for that day.

This is expected behavior when a checkout cut-off time is enabled.

This availability rule applies to:

  • Manual bookings created by staff

  • Client online bookings

System Design

Example

How this works

The Lodging View reflects whether a unit is physically occupied overnight.

However, booking availability also considers late pickups that impact your operational capacity.

  • Checkout cut-off time is set to 12:00 PM

  • A pet checks in on Jan 1 at 9:00 AM

  • The pet checks out on Jan 5 at 1:00 PM (after the cut-off time)

What you’ll see

If a boarding appointment checks out at or after your checkout cut-off time:

  • The lodging is considered not available for booking on that day

  • Even though it is not physically occupied overnight

  • The lodging status is effectively: Not occupied, but not available for booking

  • When booking: The lodging will not be available for new bookings on Jan 5

  • Lodging View: The lodging may still appear available on Jan 5

🔍 Troubleshooting Tip: If you want to confirm whether a lodging can be booked, always check availability during the booking flow.

The booking system reflects the most accurate, capacity-based availability.
