Staff commission in MoeGo is calculated based on the service price at checkout. When a discount is applied, the question groomers ask most often is: does commission go down too?
This article explains exactly how the math works — including what is included in commission, what isn't, and how multiple benefits stacked together affect the calculation.
How commission is calculated
Commission is always calculated on the original service price.
Nothing a client applies at checkout changes the commission basis.
| Client's invoice total | Groomer's commission basis |
Service price | $80 | $80 |
Discount applied | −$10 | unchanged |
Membership benefit applied | −$10 | unchanged |
Store credit applied | −$10 | unchanged |
Client pays | $50 | still $80 |
This applies to both commission types:
Percentage-based (e.g., 40% of $80 = $32, not 40% of $50)
Flat-rate (e.g., $20 per service — unchanged regardless)
What is and isn't included in the commission basis
Item | Included in commission? | Why |
Original service price | ✅ Yes | This is always the basis |
Coupon or manual discount | ❌ No effect | Reduces client's bill only |
Membership discount | ❌ No effect | Reduces client's bill only |
Store credit | ❌ No effect | Reduces client's bill only |
Tips | ❌ Not included | Tracked separately — see Tip Report |
Tax | ❌ Not included | Invoice line item only |
CVF / card processing fees | ❌ Not included | Invoice line item only |
💡 Tip: Tips never factor into commission. They appear in Reports > Staff > Tip Report as a separate line item and can be split between staff independently.
How to verify commission amounts
After checkout:
Go to Reports > Staff > Commission Report.
Filter by date range and staff member.
Review the commission basis column — this shows the exact price used to calculate commission for each appointment.
📝 Note: Configure commission percentages or flat rates at Settings > Staff > [Staff Member] > Commission Settings.
How stacked benefits affect the calculation
Discounts, memberships, and store credit reduce what the client pays — but they do not change the commission basis. Commission is always calculated on the original service price, regardless of how many benefits are stacked.
Benefits apply to the client's invoice in this order:
Package → Membership → Discount → Store Credit → Tax
Each deduction is visible as a labeled line item on the invoice. The groomer's commission, however, is unaffected by these deductions.
