Square is deprecating the underlying technology (Reader SDK) that our current integration relies on as of December 31, 2025. As a result, the Square integration will no longer be available on the MoeGo platform after that date. We’ll work closely with you to ensure a smooth transition.
What will no longer be available in MoeGo
After the removal, you will not be able to:
Select Square as a payment method when checking out appointments in MoeGo
View Square transaction history under the Card Processing section
View Square transaction or sales data in MoeGo reports under the Insights section (Unless the Square payment is manually recorded in MoeGo)
Your payment options moving forward
You will be able to continue processing card payments with one of the following two methods:
Switch to MoeGo Pay (Recommended ✅ )
MoeGo Pay is our own payment solution, designed and refined over the past three years specifically for pet businesses. Today, more than 80% of MoeGo customers already rely on MoeGo Pay every day.

Process With Square Offline (outside MoeGo)
Continue processing payments using your Square hardware and Square account, outside of MoeGo. However, Square payments will no longer sync with MoeGo:
All transactions must be managed directly in Square
Payments will not sync to MoeGo
MoeGo will not be able to track or reconcile Square payments automatically
You’ll need to manually mark appointments as paid in MoeGo

How To Record Square Payments In MoeGo
You will be able to maintain your current relationship with Square and continue to process payments with your existing hardware.
To record the Square payments in MoeGo:
Step 1: Create a custom “Square” payment method
Go to Settings > Payments > Add new payment method, and create a method named Square.
Make sure the payment method is toggled on so it appears at checkout.
Step 2: Take payment in Square
Process the payment using Square POS, Square card reader, or other Square tools.
All transaction records will remain in Square.
⚠️ Square payments will not sync with MoeGo.
Step 3: Mark the appointment as paid in MoeGo
Once payment is confirmed in Square, return to MoeGo and manually mark the appointment as paid using the Square payment method.
⚠️ Any refunds, edits, or failed payments will also need to be manually updated in MoeGo.
💡 For a smoother, fully synchronized experience, we strongly recommend switching to MoeGo Pay.

Q: Can I transfer saved cards on file from Square to MoeGo Pay?
A: Transferring saved cards from Square to MoeGo Pay is technically possible under certain account conditions.
The process requires assistance from our engineering team and generally takes about one month to complete.
